BCF Opens the COVID-19 Evolving Community Needs Fund, Will be Working Remotely to Meet Community Needs

March 13, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent announcement that Maryland has identified its first cases of community transmission of the virus, BCF is establishing the COVID-19 Evolving Community Needs Fund to enable rapid response to mitigate the effects of the public health emergency our region is currently facing. One hundred percent of all donated funds will go directly to address the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our region’s communities, workforce, and vulnerable populations.

The Baltimore Community Foundation has a long history of working efficiently and effectively to direct the philanthropy of our donors to impactful community-based organizations working to strengthen our city and region.  A public health emergency such as this global pandemic illustrates how our fortunes are directly tied to one another, and we are committed to ensuring that BCF’s donors, grantees, and partners can work together to care for our most vulnerable neighbors.

In response to the advice of public health officials, and for the health and safety of our staff and larger community, BCF staff will be working remotely from March 16, 2020 until our offices reopen on March 30, 2020. We are closing the office to do our part to help prevent or slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, by limiting person-to-person contact as much as possible. However, all essential functions will continue, including gifts and grants processing.  We are in a unique position now to help our neighbors by carrying on remotely with our essential work to get resources quickly and efficiently to where they are needed. The COVID-19 Evolving Community Needs Fund will be available to accept donations the week of March 16, 2020.
