BCF announces hiring of Ann Beegle and Dara Schnee to fill key leadership roles

Baltimore (5/1/2018) — Today, the Baltimore Community Foundation announced the hiring of Ann K. Beegle and Dara Schapiro Schnee to fill two key leadership positions instrumental in moving the foundation toward its strategic goals in schools, neighborhoods and asset development. Beegle has been named Vice President of Strategic Investments while Schnee will be Vice President of Philanthropy. Both start this month.
Beegle will manage and align the resources and work plans of BCF’s grantmaking, communications, special projects, and initiatives in support of BCF’s strategic priorities in neighborhoods, education and community engagement. Schnee will be responsible for the management of BCF’s development and donor services teams and will build on the success of BCF’s Campaign for BCF and Baltimore, a $100 million fundraising campaign completed in 2016.

Ann Beegle’s career has included stops as a successful political campaign manager, public servant and non-profit leader. She served as a campaign strategist for the successful campaigns for several Baltimore City and County politicians in 2010, was executive director of the Maryland Democratic Party, and was chief of staff for Jim Smith, former Baltimore County Executive. She previously served as executive director of Star-Spangled 200 Inc., where she led the production of the Star-Spangled Sailabration and Star-Spangled Spectacular events in Baltimore. For the past three years, she has worked as a management, fundraising and strategic communications consultant in private practice.
Dara Schnee comes to BCF with a background in both social work and fundraising. Previously, she was director of major gifts at the Kennedy Krieger Institute where she focused on the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury and heading the Women’s Initiative Network. Additional professional roles include social work positions at The Children’s Seashore House (a children’s rehab hospital) and in a foster care agency in Philadelphia. She also served as a social worker in a neonatal intensive care unit and in an emergency room while residing in Los Angeles. She also devotes her time to volunteer positions as a member of the Board of Trustees at The Gilman School, The Advisory Council of Jhpiego and the Baltimore Homecoming Committee.
