Judy Centers showing success in school readiness

Ensuring Baltimore’s children are ready for kindergarten is a crucial goal for BCF, and for our city. After identifying Judy Centers an intervention that delivered results, a small group of very generous donors enabled us to open eight additional Judy Centers in Baltimore City. Now, new kindergarten readiness results from across Maryland are showing that strategy has been effective – and school principals around Baltimore want to replicate Judy Centers in their own schools.  Read More.

BCF announces hiring of Ann Beegle and Dara Schnee to fill key leadership roles

Today, the Baltimore Community Foundation announced the hiring of Ann K. Beegle and Dara Schapiro Schnee to fill two key leadership positions instrumental in moving the foundation toward its strategic goals in schools, neighborhoods and asset development. Beegle has been named Vice President of Strategic Investments while Schnee will be Vice President of Philanthropy. Both start this month.  Read More.

The Michelle Rose Memorial Fund

A few months after her sister Michelle Rose's death, Yvette Monachino-Wolfe decided that she wanted to honor her sister’s memory and raise awareness for those who shared Michelle's struggle. BCF Celebrates $3 million in grants from The Children’s Fresh Air Society Fund

Since 1990, The Children’s Fresh Air Society Fund has provided summer camp experiences to disadvantaged children from Baltimore. This year, the fund celebrates distributing over $3 million to provide “camperships” for thousands of Baltimore City children over the 28 years it has been housed at BCF. Read More.
