Rebuild Our Playground Fund

On Tuesday, September 9, "Our Playground at Stadium Place" burned down. Its loss is heartbreaking, but our community is already rallying to rebuild the playground. We need your help!

The 14,000 square foot playground, built in the spring of 2005 at the site of Baltimore's old Memorial Stadium on 33rd Street, stood as the embodiment of community mobilization and action. Designed by the children who would use it and built by a dedicated and enthusiastic army of 3,500 volunteers, the award-winning playground brought neighborhoods together and gave young people a safe place to play.

The Friends of Our Playground is a group that was created to ensure that the community-built playground at Stadium Place remains accessible, safe, and enriching for all community members. By focusing on youth leadership opportunities and ongoing community engagement, in addition to being good stewards of the best play environment possible, our goal is to foster a public space that belongs to all community members and is an asset to all who live near it.

A successful rebuild was held on May 5-10, 2009. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in so many ways! View photos from the rebuild.
