Mission
Through collective giving and collaboration, The Baltimore Women's Giving Circle at the Baltimore Community Foundation seeks to improve life for disadvantaged women and their families in the greater Baltimore area. The Giving Circle encourages members to participate in philanthropy through education, grantmaking, and other community-based activities.

History
In May 2001, 52 founding members started the Circle. Currently, over 300 women are Circle members. The Circle continues to grow and add new members. The group is organized with Circle co-chairs, officers, and committees. Committees include: Communications, Community Outreach and Public Policy, Education, Grants, Membership/Outreach, Nominating, and Post Grant Evaluation. The Steering Committee is comprised of the Circle Co-chairs, officers and Committee Co-chairs. The BWGC is housed at the Baltimore Community Foundation, which provides administrative support.

Goals
Bring women of all ages together to:

  • Leverage their financial, social and intellectual capital
  • Realize social change through the power of collective giving
  • Promote and encourage their philanthropic potential
  • Learn about the process of making charitable investments and
  • Impact issues critical to the health and well being of the community
