Overview

The Baltimore Community Foundation

  • Helps donors plan and carry out their charitable giving in Baltimore and beyond,
  • Distributes grants which anticipate as well as respond to community needs,
  • Works to build a civic endowment, a permanent source of philanthropic funding for the greater Baltimore region.

What’s more, BCF works in partnership with other foundations, public agencies and the business sector, bringing a consistent voice of leadership to critical civic issues.

BCF is the third largest grantmaker among Maryland ’s charitable foundations. In 2007, BCF distributed $30 million to hundreds of nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore region and beyond. With assets of $194 million, BCF comprises more than 500 different charitable funds.

Founded in 1972, BCF is governed by a 30-member board of trustees, made up of a cross section of Baltimore.
