May 18, 2016
The Baltimore Community Foundation welcomed Lee Carpenter and Ricka E. Neuman into its Professional Advisor Recognition Society during a ceremony May 18.
BCF honors legal and financial advisors who actively promote philanthropy to their clients. Advisors play a key role in educating their clients about charitable giving and through that work they create a positive impact in their communities.
"By adding philanthropy to the menu of planning topics they routinely discuss with clients, advisors have the power to promote change in Baltimore," noted BCF President and CEO Thomas E. Wilcox. "Both Lee Carpenter and Ricka Neuman have been instrumental in helping their clients realize their philanthropic and charitable goals through engagement at BCF. We’re grateful for their work and pleased to honor these advisors who promote philanthropy and are helping to build a better Baltimore now and into the future."
Carpenter is an associate at Semmes, Bowen and Semmes and his legal practice focuses on estate planning and administration, trusts, and general business and corporate law. His estate-planning work includes a special emphasis on the unique needs of same-sex couples and other members of the LGBT community.
Ricka Neuman is a Principal with PBMares LLP. She has 40 years of tax and accounting experience, 15 with an international accounting firm, and 25 as the managing partner of Neuman & Associates LLC. She works with highly compensated and high net worth individuals, assisting them with tax compliance and planning for income and estate taxes.
“When the opportunity presents itself to make a connection between a donor and the Community Foundation, I see myself as simply as a conduit between the two of them,” said Lee Carpenter. “I find that making these connections is one of the most gratifying parts of my work as an estate planner.”
“I’ve been privileged to work with the Community Foundation for years, both with clients and personally with my family, “ said Ricka Neuman. “There is nothing better than helping a client or to personally achieve a giving that is incredibly meaningful.”
